Narrated by Cillian Murphy, The Irish Revolution is the remarkable story of the Irish War of Independence (1919-1922) which resulted in the formation of the Irish Free State and became the model for other British colonies to gain their independence.

Following on from the failed insurrection of 1916, this series tells the story of how revolutionary Ireland reorganized and re- imagined the tactics that would eventually lead to an independent Ireland.

Hugely important figures such as Michael Collins and Éamon de Valera would emerge onto the world stage, as leaders of Ireland’s revolutionary struggle, facing iconic British political heavyweights such as Winston Churchill and Lloyd George.

The tactics, both in guerrilla warfare and in radicalising the Irish population, would eventually force a British withdraw and treaty leading to an independent Irish state. These tactics would be copied again and again, thought-out the British Empire and become the print for freedom.
