Louis Le Brocquy: The Inner Human Reality

Ireland's greatest living artist, Louis Le Brocquy, celebrated his 90th birthday this year. In this documentary the painter talks about his life and work from the the time he ran away from his Grandfather's oil business in Dublin at the age of twenty to pursue his interest in painting, up to the present.

Interest in Le Brocquy's work has continued to grow at an unprecedented pace. In 2000, a record price of £1.15m was paid at Sotheby's in London for one of his major works, 'Travelling Woman with Newspaper'.

His paintings of the great literary and artistic figures such as Samuel Beckett, James Joyce, Pablo Picasso and Bono are recognised the world over as being a distinctively powerful and significant part of the canon of 20th century art.
