Seamus Heaney - Out of the Marvellous

This film marks the Nobel prize-winner's 70th birthday in April 2009. Featuring extensive interviews with Heaney, this film is a fresh and startlingly original look at one of the most important living poets in the English language. We follow Heaney to Harvard, New York and London to observe him at work on the world stage at readings and signings, and at a performance of an opera based on his work in London's Globe Theatre.

At the heart of the film is an exploration of the key personal relationship in Heaney's life, that with his wife Marie. As wife, mother and muse Marie Heaney is central, not only to Heaney's life, but also to his work.
