The Island

This is a simple yet profound look at the Irish landscape, weaving archaeology, history, psychology and sociology into a modern story, which asks the question - how have the Irish been shaped by their landscape?


The series is comprised of four half-hour episodes, divided elementally into water, earth, stone and metal. It is filmed entirely from the air, using state-of-the-art aerial technology, giving a fresh perspective of Ireland. The viewer will be treated to a rich and textured look at the landscape, layered with a unique soundtrack,


As well as the historical (and romantic) view, The Island is real and encompasses the light as well as the dark themes, reflected in today's landscape.


Cathal O' Shannon, a well known authority on Irish history will narrate the series.
